Embarrassing Questions Answered! #NSFW

That’s right!  I added NSFW (not suitable for work) to the subject line.  I think it’s time to talk about the things that might make you squirm, but you really want to know the answer.  It’s going to get a little “TMI” so hide this one from the kids.  These are the top four questions that I get asked every week. YES – every week!  Ready?  Let’s go!

1.  I am constipated.  What should I do?
The key is to prevent constipation.  I’ll get to that in a minute.  If you are suffering right this minute, get some “Get Regular” Yogi Tea,  steep it for five minutes and drink up.  This should help get things flowing.  Now, to prevent it.  You’ve heard that you should stay hydrated to stay regular, but some people find that it isn’t enough.  My personal way to stay regular is to consume healthy fats and fiber to lube everything up.  Avocado, hemp seed, and Udo’s 3*6*9 Oil work great.  Consuming caffeinated coffee in the morning causes about 40% of people to poop.  Read more about that HERE. Lastly, you know that I’m going to add exercise to the list of things that help you poop.  Move the body and keep things moving.

2.  I pee myself.  What should I do?
Don’t think that you are too young for this.  It happens to women of all ages!  The muscles of the pelvic floor are responsible for controlling the flow of urine.  You’ve heard of Kegel exercises, and yes, they do work!  Pilates exercises are also famous for recruiting the same pelvic floor muscles.  The Hundred is a fantastic way to strengthen these important muscles.

3.  I keep getting yeast infections.  What should I do?
This is more of a medical question, but I do know that spending the rest of your day in your Lulus after spin class is doing you no favors.  After you workout, change your clothes.  Mom was right, don’t sit around in a wet bikini.  My best tip is to take a probiotic daily.  You can go mainstream and buy Culturelle.  I love Kimberly Snyder’s found HERE.

4.  I have a toenail fungus.  What should I do?
I’m a Pilates instructor, and people do Pilates barefoot.  I see a lot of feet.  Fungus sucks because it takes forever to get rid of it.  You should talk to your doc about this, but I have seen people remedy it themselves by applying tea tree oil every. single. day.  Yes – every day for at least 90 days.  You’ll know that it’s working when the new nail growing in looks nice and pink. As the old nail grows out, keep it trimmed short.  To avoid it in the future, avoid wearing your running shoes all day, let your feet breathe and if you bang and crack a toenail, try to trim it down to the crack.  Once moisture gets in the crack, you are vulnerable to fungus.  Gross.  I know.

I love that women ask me these questions.  Keep them coming!  I’ll leave you with an NSFW “Obsession.”

What I’m Obsessing Over:
SweetSpot Labs feminine products!  I started using their wipettes a few years ago.  I dig them.  I’m also a fan of Liquid Assets.  No explanation needed.   OBSESSED.
